It Is Not His Fault

Thomas MacEntee claims it is all his fault. He is convinced his name means He Who Brings Bad Weather.
NOT TRUE! Thomas came to the great white north in October. Despite the fact Calgary has been basking in unseasonably warm weather the last three weeks and we haven’t had a frost yet had nothing to do with it.
The mere coincidence that the weather changes as soon as Thomas arrives in Calgary….well, what can I say….
Lyn Meehan, Dick Eastman and Thomas are here in Calgary for the Alberta Family Histories Society Family Roots seminars on October 16th. I had volunteered to play tour guide and show them Banff and Lake Louise.
It crossed my mind as we left the city this morning in the slushy snow that an accident could wipe out our entire Family Roots event! The thought intensified when a passing truck obliterated our view with slush for what seemed like an eternity before the windshield wipers caught up.
But all was not lost and the sun peeked out during the day. Pictures below.

Looks like a great day to me! Thanks for sharing Joan. I love Lake Louise and surrounding areas. A group of us rode our Harley’s up there… almost 10 years ago! Amazing how long ago that was…one of my most favorite trips! You all look great, have a fantastic time this weekend!

Thanks Joan for the good driving so that all speakers and you are safely back in Calgary for FamilyRoots tomorrow.
I wondered who caused the dusting of snow this morning! I’m not convinced it was all Thomas’s fault though. I remember being one of the organizers of an ARMA event in late September in Calgary so we could avoid the snow for our visitors from all over North America. We laughed when a woman from one of the southern states showed up with a fur coat because it was always cold in Calgary, right! Well she had the last laugh because it snowed a bunch the first day of the conference and didn’t clear up until everyone had gone back home.
I think the weather is just giving our visitors a taste of Canadian winter no matter when they arrive. Yes, we have had snow in every month in Calgary – thankfully not every month of the same year. We really do have lovely weather when we are not trying to plan to avoid the bad!
