SCGS Jamboree Genealogy Conference App
Southern California Genealogical Society has created a smartphone app for their Jamboree conference! I’ve already added the application to my iPhone.
This app is a GREAT way to advertise their conference and society. Folks searching for family tree or genealogy applications on their smart phones (iPhone, Android, Blackberries, etc) will also find SCGS.
Components of the App include the ability to see the following information:
- My Schedule – add the conference sessions you wish to attend. This is much preferable to lugging around a huge syllabus!
- List of Exhibitors
- Maps of the area
- Events
- Speaker information – Imagine my surprise when I saw my profile on this app! I’m a speaker on the Blogger Panel.
- Show Documents
- Twitter – follow SCGS news on Twitter – hashtag #SCGS11
- Jamboree Blog posts
Bottom line: SCGS is a gen society to watch for innovative ways to reach out to the community. The press release is here.

About SCGS Jamboree – The 42nd Annual Southern California Genealogy Jamboree will be held Friday through Sunday, June 10-12, 2011. The conference will again be held at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel, 2500 Hollywood Way, Burbank, CA 91505. More info here.

Thanks for mentioning us, Joan. Keep watching for updates. We still have a few surprises under our hat (partly because I’ve asked for a few things that no one has ever thought to ask for before. That makes me so proud).
Hi Paula,
Looking forward to your new surprises. I hope the includes the ability to access the syllabus content; to see the entire schedule and to highlight the sessions one is attending. That’s a lot to ask!
All the best with this project.
