The Sunday Comics

Historic ComicsRemember the classic comics that we can’t seem to find anymore?

I was poking around Footnote and came across a whole batch of historic comics!  If you enjoy the Sunday comics (or daily comics) then you might want to check these out.

  • Grumps
  • Original Katzenjammer Kids
  • Blondie
  • Dick Tracey
  • Peanuts
  • Smilin Jack
  • Robin Malone
  • Advice to Chillun
  • Alley Oop
  • Lil Abner

I had no idea Footnote held historic comic archives but it makes sense since they have newspaper archives.

(Newspaper archives are great for tracking families through marriage, anniversary and obituary notices).

What fun!  (it is so easy to get me sidetracked :)

P.S. There is a cool animation on the newspaper archive page.

UPDATE – September 2011 – Footnote has reinvented itself as Fold3, a premier source of military records (Civil War, Revolutionary War for example) and newspapers.  I continue to be pleased with the offerings of Fold3 and have a full subscription.  (There is a 7 day free trial if you wish to try it out).
