			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Finding family tree connections is one of the main goals of a genealogist and posting on the surname forums can be one of those most effective ways to make these connections.  BUT it takes a carefully crafted query to get results.</p>
<p><strong>Here are five tips for writing an effective surname query:</strong></p>
<p>1. Be Specific &#8211; concentrate on one main surname per query</p>
<p>2.  Add dates and specific locations</p>
<p>3.  Put the Surname in CAPITAL letters in the subject line</p>
<p>4.  List what you know</p>
<p>5.  List what you are looking for</p>
<p>And remember to include your contact information with a current email address that you plan to have for several years.</p>
