Disclosure

The contents of this web site and blog is written and edited by me, B. Joan Miller. The primary goal of these pages is to make genealogical connections; to record the family stories;  and to perhaps interest the next generation in our family history.

My rather modest secondary goal is to fund my genealogical research. The compensation I receive as an referral marketer to provide opinion on products, services, websites and various other topics does NOT affect the topics or posts I make in this blog. I abide by word of mouth marketing standards and believe in honesty of relationship, opinion and identity…in other words I call it the way I see it.

The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely my own.  I always provide my honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences on those topics or products.

In rare cases, I will mention products that I have not personally reviewed.  However, this only occurs when I am familiar with the manufacturer’s previous products and am satisfied that he or she produces only high-quality goods.  Regardless, I will mention if and when I do not have personal experience with the product.

Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer, provider or party in question.

The owner of this blog has received products, services or payments from the following.

Family History Expos – I served as a Blogger of Honor for the Mesa 2010 Family History Expo.  For this I received a complimentary registration, banquet dinner and promotional gifts.

Family Search – as one of the Official Rootstech 2011 bloggers I received a complementary registration, meals and promotional gifts.

I sometimes use referral links for the following companies – Amazon, Archives.com, Ancestry, Family Tree DNA, Footnote, GenealogyBank, Flip-Pal picture scanner (love my Flip-Pal!) , Legacy and iTunes (mobile apps).  If a person clicks on the link and goes on to purchase I receive a small commission at no extra cost to the purchaser.  These commissions help offset the cost of maintaining my blog and hosting it on a server.

I have received promotional materials from various vendors when I attend conferences, for example the Geneabloggers Welcome Bag Project at SCGS Jamboree 2010 and 2011.  I serve on the committee that arranges the Geneabloggers Welcome Bag Project.

I serve on the Public Relations committee of the Alberta Family Histories Society as the social media coordinator.  I am the AFHS contact for the Federation of Genealogical Societies.   I’m a member of several genealogical societies and the Genealogical Speaker’s Guild.  More about me here.

Bottom line is that the owner of this blog is hopelessly addicted to the pursuit of genealogy 🙂
