Library and Archives Canada

The Library and Archives Canada (LAC) are a good place to start one’s Canadian family tree research.   There are searchable databases featuring births, marriages and deaths, Census and enumerations, immigration and citizenship, military and other resources.  The Western Land Grants are useful for tracking homesteaders. LAC’s most recent launch is the Quebec City Passenger Lists Index of 1865-1900.  The LAC home page can be found here:  http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/index-e.html
