Saturday Night Genealogy Fun – Dear Genea-Santa

Randy Seavers at Geneamusings has once again challenged us to some Saturday Night Genealogy Fun.  The challenge tonight is:

Write your Genea-Santa letter.  Have you been a good genealogy girl or boy?  What genealogy-oriented items are on your Christmas wish list?  They could be family history items, technology items, or things that you want to pursue your ancestral quest.

My letter:

Dear Genea-Santa,

This the season to be busy and I know Genea-Santas are very busy and might have missed that I’ve been a very good girl this year.  I volunteered on the AFHS PR Committee and created a new blog and twitter profile for our Alberta Family Histories Society.

I drove the venerable Dick Eastman, Mr Geneablogger Thomas MacEntee and the genea-detective Lyn Meehan out to Banff in a blizzard (okay…maybe not quite a blizzard but still bad enough).

The Geneablogger Welcome Bags at SCGS Jamboree in Burbank was a fun project that I assisted with along with Thomas, Amy Coffin and Denise Levenick.

Family Histories Expos put on a great genealogy conference in Mesa that I was  delighted to participate in as a Blogger of Honor.  Over the year I attended two major conferences, and 3 day long genealogy events.

I gave two genealogy speeches at my Toastmasters club and one at the University of Calgary.    The best comment I received after a talk was when a fellow toastmaster said that I had managed to “make a boring topic interesting”.  Genealogy – boring???!! 🙂

AND I think I’m converting my non genealogy husband into a genealogist!  Does that count for an extra point of goodness?

My genea- Christmas list is relatively modest (not!)

1) Genea-Santa,  please ensure that my ongoing efforts with Genetic Genealogy will get those KERRs out of Quebec and back to a specific place in Ireland?   After all the DNA never lies.

2) Please find a wood turning conference in conjunction with a genealogy conference, if you can manage that Genea-Santa?  My husband’s genea-conversion isn’t quite complete and for some reason he wants to go to wood turning conferences instead.   Not sure why when he could be proving his lineage back to his Salem witch.

Thanks Genea-Santa.  I’ll put out a good vintage port for ya when you stop by 🙂
